Affordable Home Repairs

Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity’s goal of providing safe and affordable housing goes beyond building new homes. By maintaining neighborhoods and existing housing units we are protecting the current housing stock in our  communities through our Critical Home Repair Program. Homeowners in Emmet, Charlevoix, and Cheboygan
counties can be eligible for up to $60,000 to complete critical home repairs such as roof replacements, accessibility modifications, furnace replacements, windows, siding, and
more. Homeowners submit a small down payment, capped at $1,000, depending on their income and the cost of the project then 100% of the cost is placed as a non-
interest-bearing lien on the home that is forgiven after a period depending on funding availability. This means homeowners can complete necessary repairs to protect the
health and safety of their household without spending more than $1,000.
